Daniele Gilkes




Dr. Daniele Gilkes, the first USF Presidential Fellow in the Cancer Biology Program, is pictured with her Major Professor, Dr. Jiandong Chen following her successful dissertation defense on February 25, 2008. Dr. Gilkes has chosen to pursue her research at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in the lab of Gregg Semenza, M.D., Ph.D., Director of the Program in Vascular Cell Engineering. Daniele was named the Outstanding Graduate Student at the 2007 Moffitt Scientific Retreat.

Dr. Gilkes recently accepted a position as an Assistant Professor of Oncology at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, Johns Hopkins University. She received a K99/R00 award in 2014 and had interviewed with several cancer centers prior to accepting the offer from Sidney Kimmel.
