Research

I am interested in differential cancer risk between ethnic groups. As we know, some cancers, especially prostate cancer rates (incidence and mortality) in African Americans, are much higher than Caucasians. I am trying to find explanation by investigating their genetic profile using case:control study.

After genotyping analysis, frequencies of genotypes between case and control are compared to see whether individuals with a certain genotype may have a higher risk. We found individuals with a defective DNA repair capacity had a higher risk than subjects with normal activity genotype.
